Thumbs up for public transportation

It saves money, helps the environment and brings communities together-here at the NFTA, we are passionate about public transportation. On June 15, we went out and spread the word on the many benefits of our Metro bus and rail system. This was all part of national, “Dump the Pump Day,” an event started by the American Public Transportation Association.

Our community partners at Citizens for Regional Transit (CRT), the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Go Buffalo Niagara, and GObike helped us promote the 12th annual National Dump the Pump Day.

Tom George, Metro's Director of Public Transit, said: "This is a great way to get more people thinking about, trying out, and ultimately committing to environmentally-friendly commuting options such as public transit."

We thanked our many riders with Tim Horton’s gift cards, and worked with our partners to encourage Western New Yorkers to experience the benefits of public transportation. There was even a special visit by a member of the NFTA Transit Police K9 unit at the newly renovated Allen Medical Station.

Our friends at Go Buffalo Niagara took to social media and were successful in recruiting 63 people to sign up and commit to alternative transportation, check out the graph on NFTA's Facebook page at well as other fun photos from the event.
