Safety and Service Awards 2017

This year's Service and Safety Awards luncheon were held Sunday, April 30, recognizing outstanding Metro bus and train operators and vehicle maintenance workers. It also acknowledges NFTA employees with 25 years of service.


Metro honored 26 operators and maintenance personnel with 10-year safety records. Five bus operators passed 20 years of safe driving. Mark DeJames and Joseph Carr having been driving for 30 years without an accident. next year we hope to add their five other names of operators with 31 or more years of safe bus or train operation.

Eighteen employees enjoyed their 25th anniversaries with the NFTA.

Officer David Capretto received this year's Extra Mile Award for savings a child's life.

Kimberley A. Minkel, NFTA executive director said, “This is an amazing event every year, because of the amazing people we have working at the Authority. Ten years of safe driving is outstanding, 20 years is exceptional but operator a bus or train for 30 without an accident is unbelievable. And 25 years of service is almost unheard of today. I am very happy to take part in any event that rewards that kind of devotion.”
