BNIA Brings Home the Cup

Chris McBride BNIA Airfield Operations
The 51st International Aviation Snow Symposium took place in Buffalo last week for the 32nd consecutive year, and, as in the past it was a resounding success. All indications are that the programs were informational in providing “best practices” with regard to airfield operations and a good time was had by all.

The highlight of this year’s event was the snow plow rodeo. Twenty six operators from various airports around the world maneuvered heavy snow removal equipment around obstacles in a specially designed time course. The skills needed in the contest reflected challenges commonly seen at airports: backing into a dock area, plowing around a radius, a serpentine obstacle, plowing close to a fixed object.

Our own Christopher McBride from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport airfield crew, made us all proud by winning first place, competing against some of the best operators in the world. Congratulations Chris. Thanks for making us all proud.

This was the second year the Snow Symposium conducted what is turning into a very popular event. No pressure crewmembers, but expectations are that the Cup stays at the BNIA!
