Metro Receives Honor from City of Niagara Falls and American Red Cross

Operator Deborah Moore
Once again the dedication of staff at Metro has been recognized with a lofty community service award from the American Red Cross and the City of Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls Mayor Paul A. Dyster and Chuck Marra, Executive Director of WNY Chapter of the American Red Cross presented NFTA Executive Director Kimberley A. Minkel and Director of Public Transit Thomas George with a proclamation and Certificate of Appreciation recognizing the valiant and devoted efforts of Metro operator Deborah Moore and Metro Supervisor Antoine Moore (no relation).

Metro Supervisor Antoine Moore
On New Year’s Day a devastating fire displaced 40 people from their residence in Niagara Falls. Deborah and Antoine were dispatched to the scene to provide transportation for the people to temporary lodging at a local Day’s Inn. They both stayed on location for hours until all of the people who were left homeless were safely transported to the inn.

In recognizing their dedication Kim said, “Employees, like Deborah and Antoine exemplify the type of individuals we are fortunate to have in our employ. Every day they provide people with a vital connection for family visits, trips to school and medical appointments and when needed, they are quick to respond to emergency situations to assist their fellow citizens as well.”
