NFTA Police Brighten the Holidays for Needy Children

Officer Andre Aibbi, Lt. Mike Davies, Officer Karen Skipper
Once again this year the NFTA Transit Police and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County teamed up to make the holidays a little brighter for some needy families in our community.

As a unit, the department collected over $3,000, and working with BBBS went shopping to purchase items from lists provided by the families for gifts they did not have the ability to provide to their individual families.

All totaled, there were ample funds to buy clothes and toys for 25 students at the Enterprise Charter School and three selected families comprising of 17 children that were all delivered directly to the students and families by the officers and members of the BBBS organization.

At each home there were bright faces and ear-to-ear smiles on their collective faces as the kids opened their gifts, which without the support of the officers they ordinarily would have not been able to enjoy.

The holiday gifts were delivered by NFTA Transit Police Officers Andre Taibbi, Tom Dewey, Vince Mancino, David Drozdiel, Lauren Nowakowski, Nick Cacciatore, Mark Martinelli, Mike Bogulski, Karen Skipper, along with Lts. Mike Davies, James Halliday and Chief George Gast.

Christine Farrow, manager of the NFTA’s Employee Assistance Program and a member of the Board of Director of BBBS also assisted in delivering the gifts to the very appreciative families.
