James Morrell Promoted to Deputy Director of Public Transit

James Morrell is NFTA Metro’s new Deputy Director of Public Transit. Previously serving as the Manager of Service Planning, he has been responsible for implementation of Metro Bus Service in Erie and Niagara County as well as managing additional service for the Buffalo Board of Education and the College University Program

James is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for Medaille College and Chairman of the City of Buffalo Planning Committee.  Other former board positions include Chairman of the Taste of Buffalo and Board President of the Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers.  James is also a past Adjunct Assistant Professor within the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo. 

Throughout his career at NFTA Metro, James has always been known for his extensive knowledge of the transportation
industry.  He has attended numerous national and statewide - transit events as well as being recognized many times for his professional contributions within the local community.  He is a true asset within the authority and his passion for what he does and the customers he serves is truly commendable.

James is married to Fatima and they have four children, James Jr. and Delorian, Khalil and Zahara. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Design and a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Buffalo.  He is also a former recipient of Business First Magazine's "40 Under Forty" Award and is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo Class of 1998.
