Vicky-Marie J. Brunette has been nominated by Business First as one of Western New York’s Outstanding Women of Influence in the “Behind the Scenes” category for her professional contributions in her role as Deputy General Counsel at the NFTA. Vicky will be honored along with 26 other amazing women at the Eighth Annual Awards luncheon ceremony September 16 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens.
Although this award comes to Vicky due to her extraordinary work ethic and positive impact as an attorney for the NFTA, it’s almost somewhat ironic since Vicky’s pre-lawyer days included being behind the scenes as a writer for a nationally syndicated television show on PBS.
Vicky joined the NFTA in 1994. Since that time, she has successfully tried numerous cases and has fully developed the litigation function of the Legal Department. In her current position as Deputy General Counsel, Vicky provides legal advice, counsel and opinions to the Board of Commissioners, Executive Director and authority business centers, and is a member of the Systems Integrity Committee. Vicky is also the Vice President/President Elect of the Defense Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York and Women Lawyers of Western New York. She is also a graduate of Leadership Buffalo’s Class of 2008.
When asked about her “Behind the Scenes” award Vicky said, “Representing a large public benefit corporation has its challenges. However, we are fortunate to have great leadership and a staff of 1,500 employees who work hard and have their hearts in the right place. To be selected as someone who has contributed to the success of the NFTA, simply by doing what I am passionate about, is both humbling and a great honor.”
Congrats Vicky, this recognition is well-deserved!
