Maureen Okruch has joined the Authority as our Payroll Manager. A new position, it is connected with the revamping of the Authority’s payroll system and our conversion to a computerized payroll system.
Maureen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from D’Youville College. Her previous work experience includes an impressive 22 years at the Visiting Nursing Association, serving in accounting, payroll and human resource management positions.

On Wednesday, June 19, as part of the Authority’s sponsorship with the Buffalo Bisons, NFTA-Metro held its Customer Appreciation Night at Coca Cola Field. Upon entering the gates, all individuals received a Metro token giveaway as well as a $2 discount off of game tickets to those attendees showing valid Metro proof of fare.

As Metro Bus Operator Linda Mucha achieves retirement, she has received an endearing letter of gratitude for excellent customer service from her self-proclaimed “biggest fan,” Richard Cianciosi. Mr. Cianciosi bonded with Linda during bus trips to and from ECC North where he was attending classes in pursuit of a career in food service. Linda’s previous experience in the industry seemed almost fateful, and he came to consider Linda his unofficial mentor.

Mary Padasak, NFTA’s new Environmental Engineer, is an optimist both at home and at work. After overcoming Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and obtaining remission as of December 2012, Mary displays an unforced, content disposition. In her new role, her primary objective is to increase sustainability efforts and set a commendable example to other local organizations.

Service Planning’s Gary Bennett rode in this year’s Ride for Missing Children, Fri. May 31. The 101-mile circuit included silent tributes to children, missing and recovered and covered a good portion of Western New York.
