Chief Gast is honored

Erie County Law Enforcement Foundation
The Erie County Law Enforcement Foundation honored our own George W. Gast, Chief, NFTA Police Department with a Distinguished Service Award at their Annual banquet May 16, at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. Chief Gast was one of nine law enforcement officers from various agencies who were recognized by the Foundation for their individual dedication and outstanding contributions to law enforcement during the past year.

Happy 85th, Joe.

Joe Dolski celebrated his 85th birthday Friday, May 17. Part of the maintenance team at the Metropolitan Transportation Center, Joe has been with the Authority for . . . well . . . a while now.  The weather cooperated nicely for a picnic luncheon in Joe's honor last Thursday.  Happy Birthday, Joe.  And here's to many more.

A trio of honorees

On May 1, Visit Buffalo Niagara hosted their 2013 Beacon Awards luncheon at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. With approximately 500 guests in attendance, the event recognized superior service throughout the industry and functioned as a local kick-off celebration for National Travel and Tourism Week which began on May 5.

On the morning of April 2, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Banks of Buffalo were driving on Kenmore Ave. where they witnessed a wonderful act of kindness by a Metro employee.

Service & Safety Awards

The 28th annual Safety and Service Awards luncheon was held Sunday, April 28, at the Protocol Restaurant. Executive Director Kimberley Minkel presented the awards, following remarks by Board Chairman Howard A. Zemsky.
