Our first Chief Information Officer

John Oborn has joined the authority as its first ever Chief Information Officer. He has over 25 years leading both business and IT organizations. John is the co-founder and principal of Live Oak Partners in Oklahoma, which previously focused on executive management consulting and now serves as a research and advisory partner with multiple leadership groups primarily serving Information Technology executives.

Before joining the NFTA, John was a business division President and Chief Information Officer for CRIF Lending Solutions located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  In this role he turned around a poorly performing IT organization, led the efforts behind product stabilization, and improved performance and marketability.

John also served as CIO in a major transformation of Information Technology for one of the nation’s largest healthcare insurance companies. Further, he was Managing Vice President and Research Director for Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company where he served as both a consultant and advisor to CIOs and senior business executives.

He is presently in the process of taking up residence in Buffalo with his wife Terri. She has a degree in finance from the University of Oklahoma, where one of their daughters, Alyssa is currently studying for her degree. They also have a son, Matthew who is leaving in December to teach English as a second language in South Korea, and two married daughters, Michelle in Tennessee and Stacy in Colorado.

About his new position, John said, "Being the first ever CIO at the NFTA, my first objective will be to work with all areas of the authority and understand the systems and technology in use today, their technology vision for the future and the support the IT department will be expected to provide. Then working with the management team, define the best way the Information Technology department can serve the NFTA and develop a strategy to position the authority with the best solutions to meet the growing demands of its employees and customers."

John has an MBA in systems management from the Florida Institute of Technology and did his undergraduate work at Rollins College and Ohio State University.

Please join in welcoming John to the family.
