Frontier Station Raises Over $500 for Light the Night Walk

The Light the Night campaign is in full swing, and nowhere is that more evident than at the NFTA's Frontier Station. Station Clerk Henry Beaman (pictured) and his colleagues have been selling individual sponsorships and have raised over $500 dollars so far the annual fundraising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

"It definitely isn't just about me," Beaman said. "This is 'whole-hearted effort on the part of all of us here at Frontier Station, from the bosses down to the labor."

This is the second year that Beaman has coordinated fundraising efforts for the station. Donors who contribute a dollar or more get to put their names on balloon hung on the station's Light the Night "Wall of Fame." "We've got about 75-100 balloons up on the wall this year, which is an increase from last year," Beaman said.

NFTA Chief Financial Officer Deborah Leous, who is also the NFTA's Light the Night Walk Team Captain, commended Beaman and the Frontier station fundraising efforts. "It's simply an outstanding effort and we are very thankful to Henry, as we are to all of the NFTA employees who have given their time and efforts for such an important cause," Leous said.

Light the Night is an annual, nationwide fundraising campaign to raise money for cancer treatment and research. It will culminate locally in the Light the Night Walk held on Friday, September 27th in Delaware Park at 7:30pm with registration beginning at 5pm.
