Special Service Awards

Last week Transit Police Chief George Gast, and Director of Surface Transportation Tom George, presented special service awards to two Metro Bus operators for outstanding devotion to our community.

On the morning of June 15 Cold Spring operator Donald Cromer assisted a man at University Station. Disoriented and unsteady, he later learned the man suffered from Alzheimer’s. Donald went above and beyond the call of duty, calling the Transit Police and staying with the man until help arrived.

On Aug. 9, Cold Spring operator Dione King-Bailey noticed a woman who seemed out of place. It turns out she had located a Buffalo woman who had been missing for six days. She contacted police who came to assist her and reunite her with her family.

People like Dione and Donald make us all proud just to be on the same team. Thank you.
