It’s never dull when operating a Metro bus. Just ask Michael Bean, a veteran of 31 years
behind the wheel. Mike, who operates out of Metro’s Babcock facility, was
driving his bus in the vicinity of Seneca Street and Ryan Street on a cold
January morning, when he observed something he knew wasn’t right.

10.5 Billion Transit Trips In 2012
The demand for public transportation rose last year as
Americans took 10.5 billion trips, the second highest ridership since 1957, and
154 million more trips than the previous year, according to a report released
today by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). This was the seventh
year in a row that more than 10 billion trips were taken on public
transportation systems nationwide.
