Sam I am

When asked to describe how he feels at the end of a day of work, Sam Falcone thinks for a moment and says “That was fun.” Such a simple and inspiring thought from a man who has been working at the NFTA for over 35 years. Sam started as a Metro bus operator in 1979 and quickly grew to be loved by his passengers. After nearly a decade of driving the Delaware Express route, he moved into the coin room at the MTC. Sam’s passengers thought so highly of him that on the last day he drove their route, a goodbye party was thrown for him on the bus. Currently, Sam works as a Replenishment Clerk. This job consists of refilling the change machines and token machines at NFTA locations. Sam says the most challenging part of his job is keeping an accurate record so that the internal auditors can go home just as happy as he does. It’s obvious Sam’s personality is a major reason he is able to succeed at everything he does. From representing the NFTA in the 1986 Bus Rodeo in Detroit and finishing 52nd in North America, to being the Vice President of the Challenged Athletes Participating in Sports organization, Sam does everything with a smile. Sam is an inspiration to everyone around him. He is a perfect example that if you do something you love, you will never really work a day in your life.
