A double salute to the BNIA’s Tom Dames

Airfield Superintendent Thomas C. Dames can now officially add A.A.E to the end of his name. To become an accredited airport executive Tom embarked on course work that normally takes years to complete, ending with a set of exams designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of every aspect of air service, from compliance to finance to marketing. Tom worked towards the accreditation, on and off, for nine years, earning an MBA in the middle, while managing what is more than a full time job at the Airport. It is a testament to his dedication, coordination and skill.

But that’s not the only reason to give Tom a round of applause. He was also recently honored by Visit Buffalo Niagara with a Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of his leadership and service in support of the local tourism.

A lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, Tom has pointed out that there is no double salute in the military. Here at the Transporter we think there should be, at least for him.
