Frontier’s Firefighter of the Year

Rob Siegel, Helper at Frontier Station, has been honored as the Ellwood Volunteer Fire Company’s Firefighter of the Year for his actions this past summer. Rob drove home the night of July 20, after his shift, and noticed a house on fire. As the next-door home ignited, Rob alerted everyone inside. He ended up saving Gail Keil, an Administration Analyst at Metro’s Cold Spring facility, and her husband, from injury or worse.

Jamie Olson, Chief of the Ellwood Volunteer Fire Company declared, “Your actions played a major role in leading residents to safety. You have shown your community the real meaning of being a volunteer firefighter.”

On behalf of everyone here at the NFTA, congratulations and thank you.
