Joe Miller, ACE Designation

Airport ACE doesn’t always mean a deadly fighter pilot. Joe Miller, airfield electrician for the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, recently earned the Airport Certified Employee Airfield Lighting Maintenance title.

This designation is given by the American Association of Airport Executives and recognizes superior qualifications in an employee. In Joe’s case, he passed a written evaluation that tested his knowledge on 14 different electrical subjects unique to airport operations. “The instructors warned us. They said that time and time again when electricians think that their experience of working at the airport is enough to pass the test, they don’t,” Joe said.

The course is designed to provide detailed electrical theory and proven maintenance techniques while educating and challenging airport personnel with airfield lighting maintenance responsibilities. With his “ACE” designation, Joe joins an elite group of Top Guns that have the designation at BNIA.

Congratulations to Joe on his accomplishment!
